Nanjing events

Nanjing enjoys four big parties this weekend. Rumor has it that each will have robust crowds. Here is a rundown:

Sue Morgan's Secco Bash

The lovely and talented Sue Morgan is getting married. That's right folks, she's hitching up with Frenchman Loic Derrien. To celebrate their engagement, Secco is rolling out a bunch of party specials:

Secco will put on the same spread that they did for French Tony's going away party:

• All shots 10RMB, except Jagermeister & B52's which will be 15RMB
• Special cocktail menu (ie 20RMB whiskey red bulls, 20 RMB gin and tonics, etc). Click to download and view the party drinks menu as a PDF
• Additional (stronger) cocktails priced at 30RMB and 40RMB
• Free finger food

This is not only an engagement party, but a chance to network and meet other young professionals.

Celebrating 80 years of debauchery @ Jimmy's

Two of Jimmy's most notorious regulars celebrate birthdays this week. HelloNanjing's Anil turns 39, Coast English's Brent turns 41. In total that equals 80 years of debauchery, depending on who you ask...

As both have adopted Jimmy's as their 'home away from home', it makes perfect sense for them to celebrate the occasion with a single low-key Saturday night meetup.

There will probably be some drinks specials on the evening, but the highlight for this one will likely be a big friendly crowd of familiar faces mingling and yabbering away over drinks.

Burns Night Supper @ Finnegan's Wake

Finnegans Wake holds a Robbie Burns Night supper: a traditional Scottish fiddle band, a traditional Scottish feast and a definite crowd of warm and charming regulars that enjoy such events on the cosy second floor.

According to their website tickets are still available, but many of their events sell out in advance... Suggestion is to call ahead and make sure they have seats (check their website for contact details).

Dinner tix are 350 RMB each.

DJ Nicole at Castle Bar

No matter what, you can always expect a big crowd at Castle on Saturday nights. However, when they have DJs touring through, things pick up a few notches.

This Saturday Castle features DJ Nicole, who is apparently revered in China for being 'creative and exciting'. Exciting!

Prediction:

A lot of people are going to be out on the town this Saturday night. Word on the street is that a bunch will go to Secco, a bunch will go to Jimmy's, Finnegans will see a solid crowd, and a lot will turn up drunk at Castle Bar at around 2am for some late-night shenanigans.
